The shaft follows the line of the calf up to the knee, tapering in just above the ankle. The brown, vegetable tanned leather has a smooth, compact surface, with a natural sheen that catches where the hide stretches most. A single vertical seam runs up the shaft, letting the leather follow the calf without folding. At the top, a horizontal strap with a gold tone metal buckle, held by two side loops, echoes the construction of a riding boot built like an equestrian saddle. The toe is rounded and slightly elongated, the heel low and stable. At the back, a concealed zip lets the boot go on without widening the leg opening, keeping the fit close from ankle to knee.
